African payments infrastructure company Flutterwave announced a Series E round at a $3.2 billion valuation. The deal also includes an equity investment from blockchain payments company Ripple.
Flutterwave did not disclose the size of the round. The company said it has now raised more than $500 million in total funding.
Ripple’s investment is part of a plan to help both companies expand financial services in Africa. Flutterwave mainly works with cross-border payments, a segment that remains difficult on the continent because of fragmented banking systems, strict валютные правила, volatility of local currencies and transaction routing through European hubs such as London, which leads to delays.
At the same time, the market is gradually changing. Flutterwave offers API unification solutions that help connect payment systems across African countries and simplify work in multiple markets.
Earlier this year, the fintech acquired African banking startup Mono to use its API technology. In October 2025, Flutterwave also launched stablecoin solutions for businesses together with Polygon Labs. According to the companies, this should allow payments to bypass traditional banking systems and make transfers more stable, faster and cheaper.
Under the new deal, Ripple will provide infrastructure for Flutterwave to expand its digital asset offerings. For Ripple, the partnership also supports its plan to strengthen its presence in Africa. Flutterwave operates in 35 countries across the continent.
